Master Classes

FIU Opera Theater

November 12 - 26, 2014. Master Classes with renowned choreographer Rosa Mercedes, of   Florida Grand Opera. The free master classes will explore basic and advanced movement  techniques for Opera students and will help singers understand how the "complete body" is used to create a beleivable character on the Opera stage.

The Hispanic-American Lyric Theatre will present a Concert Version

with narration of the original opera "Pearl" by composer Amy Scurria

and Libretto by Carol Gilligan. The concert will also feature scenes from

the original opera "The Portrait" by Daniel Manoiu and George Mattox.

Cast members include soprano Sarah Payne and tenor Edgar Abreu.

Saturday, March 28 (8:00pm) - Sunday, March 29 (3:00pm)

The Hispanic-American Lyric Theatre  will present the popular operetta

in collaboration with Pro-Arte Gratelli. Conducted by renowned conductor

Marlene Urbay, the operetta will feature over 30 singers, ballet and orchestra.

August 16 - 3:00pm

To finalize our 2014-2015 season we will perform scenes from various

Spanish and Cuban Zarzuelas. Among the works to be presented are "Los Gavilanes"  (The Hawks), "El Ultimo Romantico" (The Last Romantic) and "Doña Francisquita", among others.

The Concert featured renowned opera singers performing scenes from the Bel Canto repetoire and Verdi operas.

 

La Tempranica -  Spanish Zarzuela by G. Gimenez

Miami Dade County Auditorium - 

A co-production with Pro Arte Grateli

This Zarzuela takes place in Granada where María, a gipsy girl has been passionately attached to the rich landowner Don Luis but accepting that he will never wed her agrees to marry another man. "La Tempranica" was also the main inspiration for spanish great composer Manuel de Falla when he composed "La Vida Breve".

Coral Gables Congregational Church - Feb 21
(Co- producer of fund raising concert to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.  The event raised over $3,000 and funds were given to the American Red Cross.  The concert featured well known local opera singers, and the Miami Children's Choir.)
